Key Points

Summary

  • PPF: Physical impact protection
  • Ceramic: Chemical and UV protection
  • PPF prevents rock chips
  • Ceramic improves cleanability
  • Both can be combined

Paint Protection Film

PPF provides physical protection against impact damage. The urethane film absorbs energy from rock chips, road debris, and minor abrasions that would otherwise damage your paint. PPF is the only solution for preventing rock chip damage.

Ceramic Coating

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that bonds to paint at the molecular level. It provides chemical resistance, UV protection, and hydrophobic properties that make the surface easier to clean. However, ceramic coating does not protect against physical impact.

Using Both Together

Many vehicle owners combine PPF and ceramic coating for comprehensive protection. PPF is applied to high-impact areas like the front end, then ceramic coating is applied over the PPF and remaining painted surfaces. This provides both physical and chemical protection.
